History of DuFFS

Duffs International, Inc. aka Duffs has been around for over a decade now. In 1993 Duffs was born, a product of World Industries and invasion of the skate market. Duffs was one of the first companies to cash in the skate boom of the early '90's. Made famous by a series of slick ad campaigns and endorsed by some of the most popular skaters at the time. Duffs quickly became one of the most recognizable brands in the in the industry.

The biggest change in Duffs history came in 1997 when Steve Rocco, the owner of World Industries sold the company to Canadian giant Genfoot and Duffs moved from Huntington Beach, CA to Vista, CA. But somewhere along the line, around the mid '90's Duffs slipped and lost much presence in the sea of new competing brands stocking the shelves. What ensued was a long rebuilding process. And now, going into 2003, the reorganized Duffs has crept its way back into the forefoot of the skate market. Duffs is now emerged in the entrainment industry as well. Our products have been used in such sitcom shows as "Just Shoot Me" and "Malcolm in the Middle". The Foo Fighters and The Hives, just to name a few, have also been known to sport Duffs on and off the stage.

This year Duffs will be adding a couple of new pro shoes to its line, including a Jason Adams model "The Kid." Some of our other team riders include Matt Hensley also know for his band "Flogging Molly", Moses Itkonen, Rag Doll, Brian Howard, Stacy Lowery and Jake Stewart. Duffs also has a pro BMX team with includes Brian Castillo and the legendary Mat Hoffman, pro model shoe "Condor". Mat's background includes smashing the limits in 2001 when he cleared 26.5 feet over the top of a newly built 24 ft tall quarter pipe; he was over 50 feet above the ground. But there where some casualties, than trying to go for 30 feet above the ramp Hoffman crashes and has severe head trauma that puts him in and out of consciousness for 3 days. Mat had previously lost his spleen in 1993 when he cleared 20 feet above the quarter pipe.

Along with the skate and BMX team, an experienced sales force back by a knowledge customer service department, and Genfoot's 100 years of footwear experience, Duffs has been able to survive and revive itself with a new line of shoes and a revamped ad campaign for 2003. Duffs has a lot planned for 2003 and the future is looking very bright.
